Starting to Farm!

Welcome back to my blog! Last time we talked about fishing and everything about it.  One of the things that you're going to have to focus on in this game is... FARMING! Farming is what you came to this game for (I hope)! So when you start in your game, you're going to have some space with maybe a few trees, logs, rocks and grass. All you have to do is clean some up! To clean out trees, simply use the ax tool in your toolbar. The ax will need quite a few swings (just click or press 'b', if you're using a Nintendo Switch like I am...).  For rocks, you need to use your pickax! This should also be in your toolbar. To clean out grass (it usually has little flowers on it), use your scythe.  Once it turns 9:00 AM in your game, head to town by going all the way to the right. You'll walk past another area but you will keep going all the way right to get there. Open up your menu to find Pierre's store (it should be very close to when you walk into town!) ...

"Stardew Valley" Beginners: All You Need to Know About Fishing

Welcome back, readers!  Last time we talked about choosing the right farm for your first time playing. I hope you chose the farm you will be happiest with! This post I will be talking about one of the most confusing and difficult experiences you'll EVER have while playing this game.  FISHING. Listen up if you have chosen the Riverland farm - this is important for you most of all! The first thing you have to do is get to the beach (if you don't know where that is, check in the menu. There is a small map icon in your folder that shows you where everything is and where all of the other villagers live).  Once you get to the beach, check out Willy's shop on the dock. After your first encounter with him, he will give you your own first rod (bamboo fishing rod). This definitely isn't the BEST rod, but it's a good place to start.  Now you've got your rod, you can start fishing! To cast your line, simply make sure you've selected the rod as...

Choosing the Right Farm

My Beginner's Guide to "Stardew Valley" "Where do I begin?": Choosing the right farm for you! One of the first options given to your character is what type of farm you would like to have. The options are: Standard Farm Riverland Farm Forest Farm Hilltop Farm Wilderness Farm If there's one thing that's going to give you stress playing the video game "Stardew Valley", it's going to be figuring out where to begin. To those unfamiliar with this game, it's almost like a farming simulator through an adorable, 8-bit look. You're able to customize your farm any way you like, all while interacting with different characters in the town you live in, going on quests, and other fun activities like mining and foraging.  When I started playing, I was immediately thrown into choices about my farm, without realizing which options were best.   Below, I'll explain each type of farm option that you're given and give my pe...

The Start of My "Stardew Valley" Blog!

My Guide to "Stardew Valley"! Hi, everyone! Welcome to my blog where I'll talk about my experience and give advice for the video game, "Stardew Valley".  My name is Olivia Winters and I'm 18 years old. Currently, I attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a double major in English education and Spanish education. During my freshman year, my boyfriend bought me the game "Stardew Valley" for the Nintendo Switch and it was love at first play. For those NEW to "Stardew Valley", it's a game where you get to play something similar to a farming simulator, but with many twists and turns. You get to make your own character, and choose a farm to start with. During the game play, you can grow crops, raise animals, mine, fish, and even combat at times.  In this blog, I'd like to talk about all of the different things in "Stardew Valley" that I think are important to pay attention to, and how to survive the endless...
